What do you mean by "lapsing" ? We didn't notice any problem with checkboxes.

I mean the address does not appear at all during checkout. I can login using an existing, but the system does not retain my address - even tho it's still in the system. It reasks me for an address, but no fields display. My client with IE9 is experiencing the same thing.

Odd is it seems to be working on other's systems. She is almost ready to jump to another product. And testing anything with the custom fields for address, made it lapse for us again...

You should try to update to the new version of HikaShop. I recall that some first users of the previous version had problems with the address being lost when creating a new account and we corrected that and published a new build of that release shortly after that to fix the problem.

We are using version: HikaShop Essential 1.5.2, Joomla!™ E-Commerce Extension

Nicolas,

So, I had the client flushDNS and login as a new user, and she had no difficulties at all.
Sorry, she is using IE8, I was mistaken before.

This makes me wonder about the hikashop user sync plugin -- there must be something affect her login?

Anyways, I appreciate your time to investigate and improve the product.

regards,

I tried on your website before posting my previous message and had the problem. So I would advise you to update. The latest version is 1.5.3.
The update is not yet downloadable via the update menu of HikaShop as we are waiting for feedbacks before rolling it out. If you want to update, you can download it directly on our website. It is available on the download page for the Starter edition and on your order details page for commercial editions

I did update. And I can report that when creating a NEW user login everything is fine...

However old logins are still perpetuating the problem.

I am curious if custom fields in the address area are populated somewhere in the user's record and IF these custom fields are UNpublished or deleted or renamed?

Something I missed mentioning...

I did rename the field_namekey of the "county" field (as I did not intend to use it) to "enewsletter" in the jos_hikashop_field table via PHP MyAdmin.

But I see this same fieldname key is in jos_hikashop_address. I did NOT rename it there.

So I probably caused this... is there a best way to correct the problem?

That's why indeed. You can't change the field_namekey if you don't change as well the name of the column in the corresponding table. Otherwise, hikashop is not able to save the data of the field because the name od the column doesn't exist and the query will fail. That's why it didn't work.

That's why you can't change the column name of a custom field once you created it.

Indeed! My apologies.

So renaming "county" to "enewsletter" in jos_hikashop_address should fix this...

Or is best policy to just delete the field and recreate it?

Additionally, this begs another critical question.

Will creating new custom fields upset logins for old users?

It depends. If you don't need the data already entered by previous users, you can just delete it and create a new field, that's simpler than changing in the database.

Creating new custom fields is not a problem.

I deleted the renamed field and started over.

I ask "Will creating new custom fields upset logins for old users?" because ALL my old logins prior to creating the new field still do not display the billing address form at all (blank)...

Here are my screen shots:

Thx for answering on a Sunday!

If the old logins do not display any address, it means that they don't have any address attached to them. There is normally a "create" button there which users can click on to create there address when they already had an account on your website before you started your shop but it seems that you've hidden/removed it.

I see so this code, hid the proper create button...?

.hikashop_checkout_shipping_address_new, .hikashop_checkout_billing_address_new{
display: none;
}

We hid it because the NEW address button was confusing when the add one there already?

Yes. There is no "add one" button there. There is an edit icon in order to change the address.

Did the shipping address disappear in the new version (Essential 1.5.3)?
