You're not missing anything. There is no export for now.

Yes, there is a specific format required. The format is explained on that page with some examples:

Ahh ok, that is a shame.

I have over 800 products some with up to 8 variants and want a easy way to go in and change the prices, not to have to step through them, but it seems the variant, the prices and product are 3 seperate tables.

I also need to be able to create many products with variants at once by a csv upload but this seems I cant do it. Unless I am missing something.

You can import products and their variants with the import screen. It's written clearly in that documentation:

Finally, you can also insert variants of products. You will have to specify in the product_parent_id column the product_code of the main product which must be inserted before the variants in the file. You will also have to have column names matching the characteristics in the store.
For example, suppose that you have a product with 1 characteristic being the size and two variants:
product_code,product_parent_id,size
main_product,,big
first_variant,main_product,big
second_variant,main_product,small

You will be able to insert one price per variant or product.

excellant, that makes sense, but each variant need to be associated with a characteristic if I am correct ? Is there a way to create one with the csv if it doesnt exist, or to use a characteristic already created ?

HikaShop is not yet able to create characteristics and values on the fly when you import products. You need to pre create the characteristics and the values via the interface. Then, you can use these characteristics as columns in your CSV and their values as values of the columns as explained in the previous quote.

Once again brilliant, as long as I know it can do it, then theres a way !

So to summerise.

If I want to create a product which has specific characteristics and prices for each I just need to have created those characteristics I require beforehand in the backend, and then import my csv. Simple stuff.

Then forever more I can just import just the fields I need to change, such as prices.

Yes. You will have to specify the product_code column when you import update CSVs so that hikashop can associate the new information with the product in the database.

Prices are exported along with the products information when you use the export button on the products listing. You can try on our demo website, the prices are there.

Please post us when there is an export feature.

The other method to do this is with a text editor on the database, using careful find and replace of the prices. I just did a test and it worked!

We have a lot of products that we need to change prices for. Three years later, is there a way now to export the product database? (So we can then make price changes, then import.)

Hi,

Yes, via the menu Products, click on the export button in the toolbar, then edit the csv file and import it via the menu Products > Import.
