Nicholas do you have an idea of how to install SSL certificates on the Joomla site? Thanks.

SSL certificates are not installed in joomla. They need to be installed on your web server. Each hosting does it differently so you should contact your hosting company and ask them how to do that.

I would like my SSL certificate to be activated only when a customer is checking out but I noticed that sub-domain upon check out is the category that the product is being purchased from. How can I give my host a specific sub-domain to install the SSL certificate under if the domain will change per category? Is there a simple solution to this problem?

The domain name doesn't change for the checkout.
When you have a website, you have one domain, and that domain is for all your website. If you add a certificate to a domain, it works for all your website.

I understand that the domain name itself does not change. What I meant is that I want to the SSL certificate to be activated only on the checkout page. However the url for the checkout page is not static it is always the domain name/category/checkout.html. Or would I have my host install the certificate on the checkout.html page only? Here is an example: daydreamercreative.net/tees/checkout.html . I spoke to my web host today and they said that they would be able to install it for a particular page through the htaccess file. Thanks for your help in advance.

If you want to have SSL on the checkout, you can activate the option "force SSL on checkout" in the configuration of HikaShop under the tab checkout.
When the customers will arrive on the checkout hikashop will switch the website to SSL (SSL need to be properly setup first on your server :) ).

So what way should I request the host to install the certificate? They said they need a specific page to install the certificate on if it is not be installed on the entire site.

You should have them install it for the entire website.
When a website has a SSL certificate, it doesn't mean that you can't access it in HTTP, but it just mean that you can access it with HTTP AND HTTPS.
So you can have them activate it for all the website. Your users will still access your website in HTTP and if you force the SSL on the checkout, they will switch to HTTPS on that page.

My host has installed my SSL certificate but the SSL is not activated upon checkout even though at have forced it in my configuration. Has the SSL been installed incorrectly?

I can see the HTTPS being activated on the checkout on your website. So it's working.

It is working. The https remains even if users navigate away from the checkout page and for some the https is disabling my twitter icons. How can I switch between https and http? I only want the https on the checkout page. Thanks.

There is no mechanism to switch back from HTTPS to HTTP in hikashop or in Joomla. You would have to build a plugin for that.

What could be the issue with the twitter icon being disabled? Does the https effect Javascript some how? My facebook icon is just fine.

The twitter plugin doesn't work for me either. When I enable the plugin, it says the page isn't secure - this isn't a Hikashop problem, it is a Twitter issue. Anything to do with Twitter makes my site insecure. Anyone else have this problem?

There is a bug on that end in the current social networks plugin.
You need to edit the file plugins/content/hikashopsocial.php and change http:// to https:// everywhere you find it.

Hello,

I changed all the http's to https and now the page says it secure - which is great! The facebook one works fine, but now the Twitter button looks like the attached pic.

Is there a way to fix this, or should I just turn it off and just use the Facebook button?

Thanks :)

You should try to change the settings of the social network plugin.
