It is possiple that it will not replace the image if the filename is exactly the same in some cases (1. cache of CMS, 2. cache of your browser etc). I would try it with a different filename or delete the exiting file on your server and save again the image.

Hi.
I've tried all that you say and still not working.
I have renamed picture, deleted cache CMS and also removed my browser's cache .

Hi,

The thumbnails are stored once generated so that the system doesn't have to constantly generate them.
So if you upload new images, you need to delete the thumbnail folders in the upload folder images/com_hikashop/upload and HikaShop will then recreate them on the fly.

Hi,

I am using Hikashop 2.6.4 and cannot seem to solve this same issue.

I configured a png file of the same size as all my images as a watermark.
I uploaded some 800 new images to the media/com_hikashop/upload folder.
Then I deleted all thumbnail folders present in that same directory.

After loading a product page in the front-end the new thumbnails are generated, but they do not contain watermarks.
When I upload an image through the Hikashop control panel in Joomla's backend, the watermark is correctly encrusted and displayed.

What can I do to troubleshoot this?

FYI: upon creating my database I uploaded a CSV in which I refer to 4 different images which do not actually exist for every product. I just accept that Hikashop generates a default image in case one or more of the images are not available in the upload folder. Not sure if the absence of an image can interfere with the watermark encrusting process. Just thought I should mention it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

That's the normal behavior of the system. So it's not a bug.
The watermark process is done on two occasions:
- when you upload an image in the product edition interface
- when you import a CSV and that the image is referenced from an external source and then moved automatically to the upload folder

If you directly link an image that is already, or will be, in the upload folder, then you went around the watermark process.
Adding the watermark to the thumbnails of the image without adding it to the original image like you're talking about in your message would defeat the purpose of the watermark since anyone would still be able to load the original image without watermark in the upload folder.

Thank you Nicolas, for explaining,

I'm a bit confused though, since in a previous post in this thread you state:

So if you upload new images, you need to delete the thumbnail folders in the upload folder images/com_hikashop/upload and HikaShop will then recreate them on the fly.

Anyway, how would I go about solving this? Obviously, uploading 800+ images manually takes a lot of time.

Would it be possible to upload a csv with just two columns, one with the product ID and the other one with links to the new images located in a different folder on the server (not the upload folder), that will initiate the watermark encrusting process and update just my images without changing other fields?

Hi,

I don't see an easy solution with HikaShop besides editing the products and uploading the images via the interface.
But why not use some batch tool to add the watermark to all the images on your computer and then upload them in the upload folder ?
Then, the problem would be solved.
For example: sourceforge.net/projects/jaco-watermark/
Then, all you have to do is delete the thumbnails folder so that HikaShop can recreate the thumbnails out of the original images which would already have the watermark.
