Feature request - Shipping Methods

Hi!
It would be great if it were possible to allocate a shipping method and charge for individual items, rather than as a whole at checkout. At the moment I am having to workaround by using characteristics and options (specifically altering product weights), which is not ideal.

I'd like to see the possibility of creating multiple shipping options - for example -

1) Standard delivery
2) Please call for delivery price
3) Customer can collect
4) Delivery charge does not apply

etcetera

and for more than one of these to be able to be applied as an option to individual products, and then the total
charge applied in full at checkout.

This is specifically for where really large volume, heavy items may be mixed with smaller lighter
items, and delivery may be charged at cost - or the order may be part delivered, and part collected.

Could this not be achieved using the weight specification? For instance, Products measured in kg from warehouse A and products from warehouse B are measured in lbs.
