Horizontal Category Menu

I'm trying to create a horizontal category menu and place it in a module position. There must be an easy way to achieve this. I've gone through the HS documentation over and over. I've spent close to 8 hours trying different configurations and nothing seems to work right.

My categories are set up as:

Root
>Product Categories
>>Cat.1
>>Cat.2
>>Cat.3
>>Cat.4

There are products in each of the 'Cat.#'

The closest i've been able to get is to create a menu item for "Product Categories". If i click on that the page refreshes and there is a vertical menu of the Cat.#'s

All i want is to create a menu with only the Cat.#'s and have them link to their respective product listing pages.

Is anyone able to give me a step-by-step on how to achieve this? There must be an easy solution for such a standard menu display.

Hi,

If you have the latest HikaShop version, you should have a default module created named "categories 1 level" try to enable it and set the associated category as "product categories".
If you don't have it, you can see on ou demor website (demo.hikashop.com) in the backend the settings of this menu.
