I work with distributors in some countries and website direct sales in others. We block purchase in those countries where we have a distributor using the well-known methods. The problem is psychological. The customer gets well into the checkout stage before he gets the message that he can't buy it from us. This is the equivalent of taking a child's lollipop away !!!

What I would like ideally is to intercept the process as early as possible based on customer zone and offer a click to re-direct to the distributor for that zone. Any thoughts on if or how this could be achieved with minimal trauma to the customer's expectations?

Hi,

You could use the geolocation plugin:
www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...hop-geolocation.html
You can have it geolocate the customers when they arrive on the website and then you can either:
- use the zone blocking system in the geolocation plugin in order to display a specific page that you can customize in order to explain the situation to the customers.
- add some customization in the views where you want to display warnings to these users based on their geolocated zone which is stored in the session by the geolocation plugin.

Thanks Nicolas,

That gives me something to go on :-) It needs some thinking about because customers do travel and can be geo-located away from their actual base so that could cause some frustration. Ideally the re-direct should occur based on the country entered in the address fields. Or have the option after the geo-location intercept to return to the shop and purchase normally.

This isn't a show-stopper problem - I just want to find a friendlier way of taking the customer to the correct place to buy instead of a blunt message halfway thru checkout.

All the best for the New Year, and many thanks for all your superb support.

Hi,

Well, you can't base yourself on the address of the user since the user didn't access the checkout yet.
So yes, you would need to have a way in your specific page to allow the user to force the access to your website.
