Billing vs Shipping State field options

-- Joomla version -- : 3.3.0
-- PHP version -- : 5.4

Is there a way to manage the State drop down options for billing and shipping independently?

For example, our client only offers delivery to two US states so we've limited the State zones to those two states, however, they want to allow billing addresses from any state.

Can we create a separate Zone type, or new billing address state field to provide that functionality?

Hi,

There is no option to do that for now. The fields are the same for both types of custom fields and no easy way to change that.
We're working on improvements for a future release which will help allow that, but we're not there yet.

In the mean time, I would recommend to keep one address state field configured with all the values and then restrict your shipping methods to only the states allowed for shipping. That will have the same effect but just add an extra step for the customer as he will only know once he validates his shipping address.
