Hi. I'm having the same problem: I installed the HikaShop ReCaptcha v2 plugin, and everything seems to work fine until the user presses the register button. Then the following error appears: "We couldn't contact the reCAPTCHA server to verify your answer. Please try again."
The user is created, but no email is sent, so there's no way to finalize registration.
I uninstalled the Joomla recaptcha module and checked in all the places I could find to make sure it was disabled everywhere (there's plenty of info on that if you Google "turn off the joomla captcha plugin"). Anyway, I'm dead in the water right now. No way to allow user registration without completely disabling captcha, meaning that I have to spend my life deleting fake users created by spambots.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I am. I upgraded HikaShop last week and downloaded the plugin last night.

@ben1265

you could try the older version of the plugin, but then you probably will not have the recaptcha doing something useful on guest check-out.

Since this is a fresh install could you check if a new account is created in Joomla and in Hikashop on registration. I think that, with the current plugin, a new user is not created in the Hikashop user list only in Joomla.

You are correct, the Joomla users that got registered (but not activated) while the plugin was enabled do not have a Hikashop counterpart.
If you'd like to take a look at the system , I can give you access.

@ben1265

Well it's part of the puzzle, giving me access will not fix it since I have the same problem.

If you only need it for the registration and request information (I do not use the vote and comment so do not know if it will work) then you could try the older version from page 1 of this topic.

Just uninstall the current version and install the old version and enter your recaptcha keys.

Hi,

We've done some additional tests on our end and found an issue with the ReCaptcha plugin in some cases with the check being done twice and generating an error on the second call due to Google only accepting the first check. We've added a patch to fix that problem and put up a new version of the plugin there:
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/7...-with-recaptcha.html
In all the tests we did with the new version, we were able to validate that the captcha validates when correctly filled in, and rejects the user when not filling the catpcha or filling it incorrectly.
So if you have a problem with previous versions, I would first recommend to try the new version with put up there.

Hi,

What you describe here:
www.hikashop.com/forum/checkout/883812-r...stration.html#237285
Indicates a problem with the joomla captcha system which is called when the registration is done and it fails because only HikaShop's captcha should be activated.
You not only need to turn off the captcha plugin of Joomla, but more importantly, you need to deactivate the captcha system in the settings of the user manager of Joomla or the captcha system of Joomla will still be called, and generate that error.

Has ANYBODY figured this out? My registration form was working fine -- as was the contact form. Now neither work and I get the
We couldn't contact the reCAPTCHA server to verify your answer. Please try again.
error. No users are created, and nothing has changed within the site.

All other captcha settings are disabled as per all of the posts before this one. I also uploaded and activated the new plugin version. I have been trying for hours to resolve and get nowhere.

No new plugins were installed, nothing at all changed on the site. There is a chance the PHP version was changed at my host, but I don't think so. It's the only thing I can think of.

HELP,.... anyone? Surely this must be resolved by now and someone must have the answer.

Hi,

The Recaptcha plugin works just fine. We use it even on our own website.

The error you have means that the plugin is not able to contact the reCaptcha server, so it's a different problem than having another captcha plugin/system enabled. This error means that something on your server is preventing the connection from being established. It can come from your hosting company blocking outgoing connections. It can come from your server not "allowing URL fopen". Or something along those lines. It's possible that a PHP version update would trigger such problem. I would recommend to check with your hosting company.
