That's right.
If you don't get the notification emails for the order, check that the status of the orders are changed from "created" to "confirmed" after the payment.
If yes, then the problem is an email sending one. In that case, check the Customers>Email history menu for the emails. If you see them there, ask your hosting what happened to them with screenshots of the details of the emails there. They should be able to tell you what's wrong.
If not, then the problem is a payment notification not received. And in that case, we have a documentation to guide you in finding the issue:
