Shipping prices per product

Hi
Is it possible for someone to explain what the shipping prices per product is in the Shipping area where you activate prices per product and then there is a text box. Can't find anything in forums or documentation.

Another question. Is it possible for someone to purchase a product that is NOT picked up in the shipping section.
For example - if I have a basket of goods in the shopping cart, some of which are drop shipped direct from the manufacturer (so no shipping required) and some which I need to actually post using Australia Post. So in shipping, it should come up with the Australia Post shipping options only.

I know that setting weight to 0 will show no shipping method which is perfect for the products that are shipped by the manufacturer but if I also choose a product that is normally shipped by Australia Post it is not giving me the Australia Post options. I am getting the error message "The cart items combined weight is too big for all the possible shipping methods". I get this message even if only one product that is normally shipped Australia Post is in the cart. I must have done something wrong somewhere.

Thanks

Hi Huski,

The shipping prices per product in manual shipping method is for add a fixed price per product.
If you have a price per product of 2, and 3 products, then you total shipping price will be increased by 6.

Can you give me screenshot of your shipping configurations ?

You won't be able to have half of the products in the cart with one shipping method and half with another.
There is only one shipping method selection possible and the australia post shipping plugin does not allow shipping prices per product.

We added the documentation for the "shipping per product" in the documentation page of the manual shipping method edition page.

Note that we found out that there was a plugin missing in order to handle shipping per product so you will have to download and install again HikaShop in order to get it.

Ok - thats all good but what about the following:

"I know that setting weight to 0 will show no shipping method which is perfect for the products that are shipped by the manufacturer but if I also choose a product that is normally shipped by Australia Post it is not giving me the Australia Post options. I am getting the error message "The cart items combined weight is too big for all the possible shipping methods". I get this message even if only one product that is normally shipped Australia Post is in the cart. I must have done something wrong somewhere."

Surely if I have products that are drop shipped by the manufacturers which I have set weights to be zero should not be picked up in the shipping section of the checkout and only the Australia post items in the Cart will be accounted for.

And something has happened to the Austrlia post module - doesn't seem to pickup any products that are definitely should be shipped that way. Keep getting that error message about the combined weight?

It seems that something is not configured properly with your weights.
Please make sure that you're using the same weight units in your products and int the shipping method (it uses 'g') and that it is the first weight unit in the configuration of HikaShop.
That should help avoid conversion issues.

Will try that and see if it works.

Was thinking more on multiple shipping.

Would this work:

1. Add new field to product pages which has a drop down of the shipping methods published. (ie. assign a shipping method to product)
2. If someone orders a combinations of items - say 8 items
If 5 of those items are Australia Post, then it groups these products together and gives you the Australia Post shipping (select normal post or express)
If 2 of the items are couriered then it bunches these together and shows the shipping option under the Australia Post one.
If the last product is pickup only - it shows this as well

That way during checkout an the final invoice the client will get will show a breakdown of those products that will be sent via Australia Post (and the postage price), the items that are couriered and the item that needs to be picked up.

Sounds simple - program wise probably not.

Not working still - all products and product options have weights set to kg, and dimensions to cm and in configuration have settings at kg,g and cm,mm,m

If I go and order some products that have shipping in the price (drop shipped), such as www.ecomad.com.au/ecomadBamboo/shop-cate.../product/cid-64.html
and then order one that is shipped by Australia Post such as www.ecomad.com.au/ecomadBamboo/shop-cate...s/product/cid-2.html
then go through the checkout process.
The shipping method I get is Pickup Only (free shipping) - I should only be getting the Australia Post option in this case.

None of the products that are dropped shipped have weights or volumes assigned to them - its all 0.

So not sure where I am going wrong here.

I am really confused. For all products that are drop shipped (no shipping required) I have changed the weight and volume to g and mm. THere is also zero for weight and dimensions for these products and in the config for shipping I have g,cm and mm,cm,m (changed it back)

Now when ordering an item that is shipped Australia Post and an item that is drop shipped, I am getting the error message "The cart items combined weight is too big for all the possible shipping methods"

Have no idea what to do about this.

It's always possible if you code it... But it's not just 2 lines of code in the good file...

Concerning your problem with australia post if it says that the weight is too big, it must be a conversion issue.
If you could give a back end access via our contact form, I could check that for you.

I just can't seem to get the shipping working on the website properly for some situations. Also, have essentials version - is there a different way to get support other than this forum? I really need to get the shop live.

For example, I have a variety of products that are drop shipped - these products do not have any weights or dimensions assigned to them, nor do their options or variants. If I order one of these products and then another product that would normally be shipped with Australia Post, I get a "The cart items combined weight is too big for all the possible shipping methods" message pop up when it should actually be showing Australia Post.

Should this be the case? I would assume so as products with no weights or dimensions should not be picked up in the shipping area of checkout.

That should indeed not be the case.

As I said in my previous message, if you could give a back end access via our contact form, I could check that for you:

It is working now - I deleted the Australia Post plugin aupost_2012-05-23.zip and then reinstalled a slightly older version aupost_2012-04-23.zip. The plug-in works. Only problem I seem to be getting is when I order a product that is not sent Australia Post I get the error message "

I retried installing the latest plugin aupost_2012-05-23.zip but same problem again - no Australia post showing up in the shipping.

Hello,

I fixed the problem which was coming from the weight/dimension conversion in Hikashop 1.5.8, so you can now use the last version of the Autralia post plugin.
