FedEx Settings may be slightly incorrect.

I have just configured a live Hika site for FedEx shipping rates using a customer's account to qualify for a slightly discounted rate table.

The current FedEx Plugin is successfully communicating with FedEx, and is displaying correct values, but there are a few kinks I want to air out, in case there are fixes available.

First, the system is returning two system messages, neither of which appears to be valid or correct:
The first is "There are no valid services available", which is obviously untrue, since there are services listed in the appropriate spot on the page.
The second is "The shipment qualifies for FedEx home delivery. Please resubmit your request with serviceType Ground Home Delivery.", which is obsolete, since the request WAS submitted with that serviceType (verified by FedEx tech support) and no resubmit is necessary.

I need to either fix these messages or hide them. Suggestions?

The second issue is that when I set the "Rates" configuration of the plugin to "Discounted rates of your FedEx account", FedEx says they are receiving the request properly and are returning the rates, but Hika is NOT displaying them. However, if I set the "Rates" value to "Public rates", FedEx says they are receiving the request, returning BOTH the public rates and private rate values (since the account settings and passcodes are in order), and Hika IS displaying the private rate, unasked. So, to display the private discounted rate, I currently have to ask Hika NOT to display it. Not a huge issue, but very confusing.

Also, a good instruction page for this plugin would be helpful, including the fact that I could not get Ground Delivery Home rates to display at all until I activated a Restriction zone of United States. That's not exactly explained anywhere I could find.

Thank you for your hard work, I hope this message can help sort out a few rough edges for you and for other Hika users.

Hi,

First, let me state that this plugin was developed by a third party developer and that we took care on ironing some of the kinks with the small information that we had. We actually never had a test account nor the implementation documentation to do that so it's kind of difficult to see how to fix stuff when you're going blind.

I'm not sure about how to really fix what you're talking about, but hiding the messages coming back from FedEx is quite easy to do by just looking at the code. You can just remove the line below in the file plugins/hikashopshipping/fedex/fedex.php :
$app->enqueueMessage($notif->Message);

Regarding the discount/public rates, I don't have the knowledge to fix that with the current code but you already found a work around so it's not that bad.

And yes, for some reason, the developer found interesting to use the zone restriction field as the country of the merchant instead of having a specific field which thus makes it not obvious to setup...

We won't publish a documentation for that plugin for now as we actually want to completely redevelop the plugin from scratch in order to have something clean in the near future (in a few months). We're actually working on a new version of our shipping/payment API which will allow us to do something way better so we're waiting for that to be finished and tested first before starting our work on such new version of the FedEx plugin but rest assured that we don't like the current situation of that plugin either.

Thank you for your feedback on the plugin and if you can potentially provide a text account and the necessary integration documentation for when we'll start our work on the new plugin, we would be glad that you use our contact form in order to send us the information: www.hikashop.com/en/contact-us.html

Now that that site is up and running, I will try to make some spare time to work with the code of your plugin and FedEx's test server directly. If I can get more predictable behavior I will post it privately and send you a URL. I will include a copy FedEx's current developer's API guide for shipping rates. (It's downloadable once you register online with Fedex for a developer account.)

Let us know as soon as your new API is ready!

Thanks.

It will be available in the code with the new release of HikaShop. We've already ported to the new system all the payment plugins and the manual shipping plugin. The release will be done in June.
