Hallo all.

i have the shortcuts to other products in the configuration->views->product enabled so my customer once opened one product of one category can go to the next product detail page or to the previous like reading a book.

When there are products with multiple categorys, flipping the pages, the hikashop is changing also the category and th ecustomers starts to flip around in different categorys he started with.

Isn't it possibel that when the feature shortcut is enabled that it continues forward or backward in the same category ?

regards

Hi,

The problem is that we can't really know from which category we come when we are in the product page, so the navigation is in the first category of the product.
It could be a solution, adding a session var to set the category visited and stay in the same category, it require modifications.

Browsing your forum i've seen that there were some requests and issues from other users belonging to the "switching" of categorys. Are you planning to implement this?

Hi,

There is actually already a solution which has been implemented for that.
The only requirement is that the "simplified breadcrumb" option of the configuration is turned off.
That will add a "category_pathway" parameter in the URLs of the product pages and the system will then use that parameter to know from which category the user is coming from and thus the next/previous links of the product page will point to products of the category from which the user came from.

Hikashop 2.2.0
Joomla 2.5.14

I have the "simplified breadcrumb" turned off.
...and I have the Search Engine Friendly URLs turned "off" as well.

But the products that are placed in multiple categories switches categoeries when I click on the previous button, it does not go to the previous product in the same category.

And solution to this ?

Hi,

Actually the previous / next buttons take the first category of the product to switch between the categories.
So if you have:
- Product A > Category A
- Product B > Category B - Category A
- Product C > Category B

Clicking next on the product A go to the product B, but the first category of the product B is Category B So you can't reach again the Product A.
This system is working fine for the shops where the products are in only one category.

I have added in our TODO list to improve this feature, to get the menu parameters in order to stay in the good category, and not switch depending on the products.

Hi,

Actually we can't give a date. We just released the 2.2.2, this feature should be in the 2.3.0.

It would also be nice if this function works with SEF component like ACESEF.

I use this component for mye URLs, and I don't have any categories in my URL (only product name) so they looks like this:

www.example.com/productname

If it could work with a SEF component it would just be perfect ! =)

Hi,

Well, it's not really something compatible with the Joomla SEF system.
You can have such url if you create a joomla menu entry.

I guess that ACESEF when it have a 404 page, asked for the components if there is something which want to catch the url.
Or it has to stored all links in a database and at this moment it's like creating one menu per article.

I am having the issue mentioned in this topic. I am using Joomla 3.3.0 and HikaShop 2.3.0.
Any idea when it will be sorted or how I can fix it on my side?

Which issue ?
Normally, if you add your categories in the correct order in your products, the system will use the main category of the product for the next/previous buttons, unless you come from a different category and that you have the "simplified breadcrumb" option turned off (so that the system knows from where you come from by adding an additional "category_pathway" parameter to the URLs.
So you should not have the problem with the 2.3.0 if configured properly.
