Hello,

You are both HikaSerial users so I think that you know that HikaSerial is highly flexible and is like a "toolbox".
As I wrote, it will be a subscription component based on the HikaSerial core.

It means that a subscription will have a "start" and an "end" and thanks to the HikaSerial structure/flexibility, the subscription action plugins will allow to do their stuff when a subscription activate or expire ; as "consumption" plugins are doing their job when a serial is consume.
So you really (really really) don't have to worry about that !

Hi guys,
two useful features to add in the second phase deveopment would be:
- for existing subscriptions: editing (modify) the expiry & renewal dates and billing cycles
- for new subscriptions: manual subscription creation from the backend

Hello,

1.1 - Already done
1.2 - The renewal process is not done yet but it would be editable once in place
1.3 - Billing cycles ? If you're talking about renewal dates, I'm not sure it will be possible regarding the recurring plugin features.
2 - Already done

Hello,

About the renewal dates ; I don't see such kind of feature in the recurring plugin we already have in HikaShop.
So it won't be possible in the first release.

There is an import system in HikaSerial in order to import serials ; now I don't see specific problem to improve it to also support import of subscriptions but it would mean that no renewal could be activated for these subscriptions.

Hi Jerome,
"it would mean that no renewal could be activated for these subscriptions"
I'm not sure I understood, so:
on a site, right now, I'm managing the subscriptions changing user groups "manually".
What I'm looking for/trying to understand is if, on first release, there will be a way to set the Hika "subscription product", then import all the subscription dates I have yet stored manually, and begin to use HikaSubscription where before the subscription date ending an email will be sent to the user to to buy/renew it's subscription before it's end... (having a discount on subscription price for that)

Hello,

A recurring need to be set with the payment method.
If you import a subscription ; you can't set-up the recurring with Paypal.
Nothing less, nothing more.

Hi Jerome,
sorry for my English, what I mean is not to have "recurring payment", but:

1 - set the Hika "subscription product"
2 - from this time all users buying the "subscription product" that cost 100 € will be added to the group X and at the end of the period (one year) they wil be token away from group X (if they don't renew before the end date with a discounted price of 70 € ).
3 - At the mean time import in the DB all the subscription "users" with their "end subscription dates" (I stored manually till now). These users are yet in the group X.
4 - So, from now, for all the users, also the imported ones, HikaSubscription 60 and 30 days before the subscription end date will send an email to the user to renew (pay again, so not a recurring payment) it's subscription before it's end. Renew before the end date mean to pay 70 € and not 100 €, it's subscription end date will be moved and user will countinue to be in the group X.

That's all...

Hello,

Okay ; so basically, you want an automatic email notification (for the other points we already talked about them previously in the thread).
It's in the TODO but for the moment I'm not at this point.

Hi Jerome,
so, waiting news from you... Do you have yet an idea for the first reease date ?
For the "automatic email notification" I suppose that I can do it also with AcyMailing...

The most important thing is that, when imported, HikaSubscription can "see all users" with their "end subscription dates" (I stored manually till now). ...So, the basically subscription features:
- renew before the end date paying 70 € and not 100 € and moving it's subscription end date to countinue to be in the group X
- if not renew, it will be taken over from the group X

Jerome,

I agree that HikaSerial works great as does the HikaSubscriptionl once you get it figured out. I would like to add another 'request' similar to what I had previously mentioned and others had mentioned. As HikaSubscription does now, if someone orders a product, it can add them to a group and when that period ends, it removes them from the group. Like a previous recommendation, could you give the option to remove them from the group as well as an option to move them to another group. While I don't currently have a need for this, I can foresee why this could be useful. It would give it more flexibility.

Just my two cents. :) :) :)

Hi

I believe I mentioned this some where before. But if the definition of Group could be expanded beyond Joomla groups to e.g. Easy Social Groups, Community Builder Groups or JomSocial Groups that would be awesome. Just Saying.

All the best Paul

Paul,

That would probably be a bit much as there are so many social components out there. To be honest, this really is one of the issues with using components like those as they have their own groups instead of creating a group / subgroup just for their application.

Example of how these applications SHOULD have built their groups within the Joomla User Group functionality.

  • Easy Social
    • Easy Group 1
    • Easy Group 2
  • Community Builder
    • CB Group 1
    • CB Group 2

I suspect HikaShop will just recommend creating a custom plug-in for different types of social add-on groups and I would think that would be reasonable.

Jerome,

My apologizes. I didn't know about the other two threads. It might be good to close the two extra threads with a link / notice to the main thread so keep everything in the 'right' place.
