Installing HikaShop onto 123Reg Server

We are trying to install HikaShop into our new website hosted on a 123reg server, however we are met with an Internal Server Error - The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, www.123-support.co.uk and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

We have contacted 123reg support and they have responded with

"We have checked the logs for any Internal Server errors on your website and have found that one of your plugins was calling for a PHP module that is not enabled in PHP 5.3.3 you were using.

Unfortunately, this module is enabled on our version of PHP 5.2.17, however your Joomla website is not compatible with PHP 5.2.

The only way for your website to run is to use PHP 5.3.3, however you will not be able to install the HikaShop extension."


If this is correct are there any workarounds available other than changing hosting provider or are we missing something that could possibly be helping us? We are fairly new to this and any help would be appreciated.
