Create new checkout workflow module

Hello,

Will it ever be possible to create a custom checkout module which can be added into the work-flow (backend HS)? For example, if you want to add 'Gift wrapping' then you could create this module easily in the back-end of HS, add a price for the service with a yes/no opt in button for example. I am guessing that would possibly be a major project but thought I would check in any case...

However when I try and create a custom field via the menu Display>Custom fields, I cannot change the table from 'Address' to 'Order'. Is that only available with the business edition?
