Order numbers

Again I want to put this up as an important issue:

Order numbers should only be assigned to orders that are confirmed!
Now we end up with a whole lot of created but not confirmed orders and it drives the bookkeepers crazy.
We can't delete them because by law we need to have the numbers in following order. We end up with 3 times more paperwork, bookkeeping than necessary.
Orders that are created should get a temporary number and only confirmed orders should be assigned the next number.
Please tell me this is on your list and it will be fixed soon.

Why not use the invoice numbers ? The invoice number is set only when an order is confirmed, and the number follow the previous one, so that seems to be a solution for you.

Else there is the possibility to create a plugin based on the function "onBeforeOrderNumberGenerate()" this way you can manage the order numbers as you want.

Ah now I see that invoice numbers and orders numbers are different. Great that solves it ( I hope).
