System details at bottom of message

I would like to host my videos-for-sale outside my website host, because I don't want to deal with moving the website right now and GoDaddy has some restrictions that I don't want to/don't know how to deal with.

I tried to put the link to my Hightail location for videos in the Product/Files section where it gives the option to specify a fire location. But the confirmation email contains a link back to the Strategywerx.com website with a "Message Fire Not Found" error, instead of linking to the actual location of the video as specified in the product setup.

Is there a way to do what I am trying to do (host outside my website), and if so, how do I accomplish it?

Andrea

Update: I finally got HikaShop to include the correct link to the outside file host. I'm honestly not sure what I was doing wrong before, but I did the setup step-by-step once more and this time it worked so clearly I was making some sort of error.

HOWEVER, I still have one problem. In the confirmation email - which goes out perfectly - the link to the outside host is correctly displaying. However, if the buyer clicks the link, it takes them back to the main website - their order page - and a "message: file not found" error. If they copy and paste the link into their browser bar they go right to the download. But buyers aren't going to think of that - so they'll be emailing me to find out what's wrong! How do I get the link in the email to go to the browser bar?

Hi,

I just did a test but the link in the notification email is working fine.
Are you sure that you're logged in with the same user that did the order on your frontend when you click on the link ?
What is the link to the file ?

Did you test a "free" item or a paid item? The free item links are working fine. It's the paid item links that aren't working. I just cleared my cache again and tested it, but it didn't work. I was definitely logged in as the same user when I checked the email.

If you want me to send you a code to test a paid item, let me know offline.

I of course tested with a paid item.
Please provide a code to test on your website.

I am still waiting for help with this problem, and it has been many weeks since I first reported it to you. I understand that you guys were out of town for part of this time, but still it should have been resolved by now. As requested on our last communication, I sent a direct communication with a free product code so you could test what is happening.

Please resolve this ASAP. I really need this part of my shopping experience to work properly.

I replied to your contact request 2 weeks ago with the solution:

Hi,

I found the problem.
It doesn't work because you're using a URL with https for your files while the file system only supports http.
Replace the file administrator/components/com_hikashop/classes/file.php with the one in the archive attached and it will work for https file links too.
