Paypal Workflow - email sent to early.

I am testing out the cart before launching - and all looks great. But - when testing paypal orders once I create an order form the hikashop and select payment via paypal and go to paypal an email is sent to the customer confirming the order before they even make payment, and I am notified of a new order has been made. How do we avoid this? The email confirmation should only come after payment success.

Hi piscitellij,

The email confirmation is only sent after the Paypal payment success.
The first email received is "order created" it just mean that the order has been created, but it's not confirmed.

Can that be disabled? We only want one email to go out automstically upon completed payment.

Yes it can be disabled in HikaShop > Email, and just disable the "order creation" email.

This feature is only available in the commercial versions of HikaShop.

GREAT- totally glazed over the X buttons next to each email.

So which email though is the one that the customer gets upon completed payment? I still want them to get an email from us - but not until after the purchase is 100% successful.

The email sent when the order is created (before the payment) is called "order creation notification". The one after the payment is called "order status notification".

Ok so what we are looking for is to NOT send the "creation order" email to the customer; just the "final status" email to the customer. I wasn't sure in this thread if this is what was being asked, but our situation, we would like to avoid the "creation order" email to customers. Thanks

Okay, so we're using PayPal Pro and the business version of HikaShop. I have both "creation order" and "order status" emails checked, but only the "creation order" email gets sent to the customer. How do I set it up so both, or just the "order status" email gets sent to the customer?

According to PayPal, PayPal Pro is not set up to send a confirmation email to the customer. Only we as the merchant get the confirmation from PayPal.

Here's what we've been receiving: "order created" email from HikaShop, "Payment notification" from PayPal, followed by a "Notification of Payment Received" email from PayPal.

The customer is only getting an "order created" email from HikaShop, and no confirmation of payment received. This leaves the customer wondering if their payment went through.

With hosted payment plugins, the order is confirmed at the moment it is created because the order is not created if the payment is not valid.
So that's normal that you only get the creation notification and not the status notification since that second one is only sent when the the status of an order is changed.
The text in the creation email however can be personalized in such cases to avoid any misunderstanding with translation overrides:
