When does Hika Shop actually remove an item from inventory? When an order is complete OR when it's added to a cart?

Also is there a way to control how long an item will stay in the cart... meaning. Once an item is added to a cart can we want it to 'expire' in 5 minutes unless they complete the order.

Hi,

For the cart retaining period, you can change it in HikaShop > Configuration > Main > "Cart retaining period".
And in HikaShop > Configuration > Checkout "Clean cart when order is", here you can change when the cart must be emptied.

It depends. You have the option "Update the product stock on confirmed status" of the configuration to remove the item from inventory when the order is confirmed (payment has been done), but if you keep it turned off, the item is removed from the inventory when the order is created at the end of the checkout, before redirecting to the payment gateway.
