Getting Logged Out Continuously

I am experiencing a very frustrating issue. I am using Joomla 1.5.x and HikaShop Business Edition. My timeout is 60 minutes. I am an administrator. When I attempt to edit products I am continually getting logged out. Sometimes it happens just a few seconds after logging in and other times it is 5 or more minutes after logging in. However, I keep getting logged out and losing changes. What generally happens is that I will go in and manage characteristics and when I hit "SAVE" I get logged out. Any idea how to fix this?

So it's only when you edit products ? You mean when you save them or when you manage their variants ?
How many characteristics/values do you have for each products ?
Maybe you have too many of them and the server cannot handle that many possibilities.
It would help if we could identify a pattern for the problem. For example, if it only happens when the product has characteristics. Do you see any pattern for the problem ?

I see no pattern to this at all. I have two attributes for each product: color and size. The sizes have at most 5 sizes. The colors have at most 4 colors. Is that an issue in and of itself? Perhaps I need to have multiple color attributes so that I can add one that has 2 colors and one that has only one color, etc.?

20 possibilities for your variants is definitely not a problem for any server.
Could you try to activate the debug mode in the joomla configuration and see if you don't have errors popping out while managing your products ?

Well, that's not an error, just debug info and it doesn't help.
Could you explain at which point you get logged out ?
When you open the edition page of an existing product ?
When you open the edition page of a new product ?
When you save a new product ?
When you save a new product without characteristics ?
When you save a new product with characteristics ?
When you save an existing product with/without characteristics ?

Does it happens each time? Or does it happen only half of the time ?

I went to the products listing. I clicked on a category. I checked a box next to the product. I clicked edit. Then I clicked manage variants. I checked a checkbox next to one of the variants. I clicked edit. I got logged out.

Did the exact same thing again and was able to edit 1 variant, hit save. Edit a 2nd variant, hit save, got logged out immediately.

Next time, tried same exact product. Got logged out as soon as I got to "checked a checkbox next to the product and clicked edit".

It happens at random times. What I noticed is that the memory spiked up quite a lot (which is why I posted that info). However, my memory limit is much higher than that. I wonder if it is something with this Joomla installation.

How easy is it to pick up the entire installation and test it on another server?

Do you have similar problems when you edit/create joomla articles ?
It would make sense that the problem occurs everywhere else.

If you want to do a copy of your website to put it somewhere else you should use that extension: extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-...security/backup/1606

It's really easy to use and you can do backups/restores quite rapidly with it.
