USPS, paypal and common carrier

Hello,
I have USPS shipping method and common carrier method set up. The common carrier is a manual method for items weighing over a certain amount. Shipping appears to be working, however when I order smaller items which ship usps, the options come up and when I choose one, the payment method throws off an error message saying I don't have a payment method configured. I am reasonably sure it is because when you go into the paypal configuration, it shows the common carrier as a selected shipping method and USPS does not appear there.

There does not seem to be any way to de-select the common carrier method and USPS does not show up as an option to add which basically means paypal will only work for items shipping by common carrier and not USPS.

I did order an item which weighed enough to use the common carrier option and put through a pay pal order and it apparently worked.

So how do I make it work for all shipping methods, given that USPS does not show up as an option and I can't deselect the common carrier option making it work for everything????
