Taxes stopped working

Hello,

I created a product several months ago and configured the tax categories and rules at that time. It was all working fine in my tests, but we haven't launched the product yet to know with real orders. Now the launch is near, and when I went to test everything again, the tax rules for some reason are no longer working. I haven't changed anything in the set-up, and it all looks as it should. Is there any reason why things might have changed?

For more detail: We only want to charge sales tax in two states. The way it is configured is there are six tax rules in all, three for each of the two states, with different rates each for individual, company without VAT, and company with VAT. This was the only way I could allow for re-sellers to have a tax rate of 0% while others would have the regular tax rate.

Thank you,
Renee

Hi,

I would recommend to check each point of the FAQ regarding taxes setup:
www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...ion-listing.html#faq

If you don't find the issue, please provide a screenshot of your tax rules listing, your product options and your main configuration options screen.

I deleted and re-created some of the tax rules and now it is working again. Thanks!

This problem has resurfaced again, and I have some better details this time:

When I set the tax rules for each state specific to Company with VAT and Company without VAT, they work no problem. However, when I try to create tax rules for "Individual" to charge tax when one of the two states is in the address, no tax is charged. Just to confirm, an individual is a user who registers without entering anything in the field for "company" or "reseller number" correct?

My conclusion, is that it seems the tax rules are working only when there is a company name entered in the user's profile. If they leave that blank, the tax rule isn't working. Is it possible these rules are cancelling each other out?

Thanks for all the help, the support I've received has always been terrific.

I thought it might be helpful to include this screenshot of my configuration as well.

From what you're describing, it sounds that you changed the hikashop configuration option "Default address type" from "individual" to something else and thus the users are not identified as individuals anymore. Could you check on that ?

Also note that 0% tax rules should not be necessary.

I checked the default address type in configuration, and it was set as "all customer types" I changed it to "individual" and now it seems to be working perfectly. Thank you so much!
