I think I know in which situation the error occurs: My configuration in checkout is workflow "login_address,shipping,payment,confirm_cart_status_fields_terms,end" with no registration, see also the configuration screenprint in the zip-file.
- A customer who has already once done an order will have a record in the database, and cannot register again, see screenprint. No checkout is possible, as he is stopped.
- A new customer can register. In the second screen, shipping, he does get a similar error-message, but this time he is not stopped, and he can proceed to checkout.
I attached screenprints of both situations and of the configuration. Hopefully this clears things up.
Now that I know the error, I realized that my other shop, which I though was upgraded succesfully, does have this problem. If you make an order with email-address

, you will see the same problem occurrs. Only thing is that error reporting is switched off, but you cannot proceed past the first screen where you have to enter address-details.
