I am trying to get some reports done for my client and run into strange issues when it comes to total calculations in reports.
There are only a few products and the 'default' widget shows:

When I create a new widget with the YEAR TOTAL, it should be the same as the current month but I get:

I have create the table pretty standard, set the dropdown to this year, added with VAT and only confirmed orders and clicked OK.
It seems it takes 2013 with it.

Than I tried a 'this year, versus this month, unless I lost count, we are still in January so it should be the same but the reports, display different values.
Something like 23000 versus 17000, numbers I can't related too.

If I just move the incl VAT to excluding VAT I suddenly get a total of >50.000

Is this a known bug or is it freaking out on some of our settings?
Cant make any reliable reports at the moment.

Hi,

Are you sure you are using the same filters for the orders ?
Because you shouldn't include the orders "created" or "cancelled".

Hi Jerome, glad you are helping out. My clients want to finish their administration over 2013 and this is a serious problem.
I have now exported the CSV and made an overview but this also gives completely different totals....

To answer your question:
No I only select CONFIRMED items, this year, incl VAT and nothing else. I get a crazy number, not sticking to the dates but it seems to take all orders in the system.

Hi,

There is no option to display the calculations from the beginning of the current year.
The option "This year" is actually the 365 previous days including the current one.
If you want to see the results from the beginning of the year, you should set a start date as January 1st of the current year and no end date in your widget.

Ah that explains part of the issue. I suggest to rename "This year" to "Last 365 days" to avoid confusion.

What about 'last year' is it the real last year?
What about sale "this month" = last 30 days or really this month?

Bottom line seems: use the date setting rather than the preset?

HI there,

Last year is the same as "this year" but with one year less (so If you display this year and last year, you can see differences for the same dates).
This month is also referring to last 30 days.
We'll think about renaming it, it's indeed not especially relevant.

Using date is however the best option if you want to display sales from January 1st to the current date. I guess it's what you're looking for :).
