TaxCloud Alternative - Host won't install SOAP

-- HikaShop version -- : 2.3.5
-- Joomla version -- : 3.3.6
-- PHP version -- : 5.3.13

Is there an alternative for TaxCloud that can be used with HikaShop. My Client's host refuses to install SOAP so TaxCloud won't function. It will be a nightmare to setup Colorado's complex sales tax system manually.

Well, I have good news and bad news for you.

Good - There is an alternative to TaxCloud. It's called AvaTax and there is a certified HikaShop connector for it, by my company, Polished Geek.

Bad - The AvaTax solution also requires SOAP to function. :(

I recommend your client change hosting companies if the current host won't install and maintain necessary platform software. Automated tax solutions are worth getting better hosting for sure.

Another option would be for Hika to convert the implementation from SOAP to JSON.
The APIs are identical - and JSON is faster! :)

I didn't know about that possibility. We added that on our todo list.
It however won't happen overnight so I would still recommend to change the hosting company. It shouldn't be a problem to add the SOAP extension on a web server for most hosting companies.

Thank you all!! My client switched to a VPS and SOAP is now active. Seems to be working. :) Now to test.
