I am based in Switzerland but selling products globally, so I need to collect VAT for my Swiss customers only.
The problem I have now is that sometimes, the system applies tax although the customer is not from Switzerland, and the shipment is not to Switzerland either. Do I miss something?
These are my main tax settings:
main tax zone: Switzerland (see picture 1)
applied tax category in the product "VAT (CH - Standard)" (see picture 2)
The settings for this tax category are: Zone: Switzerland, Tax Rate: VAT_CH (8%), Customer Type: All customer types (see all settings for this tax category in picture 3)
So, my understand is that only customers from Switzerland should get tax.
But the result is that some of my non-Swiss customers get tax, some not. Why that?
I have added a screenshot from a US customer with both (billing and shipping) addresses in the USA. But he gets TAX. (see picture 4).
In an another example (picture 5), the same product is (correctly) not taxed, this time the customer is based in the Emirates. Both addresses are there.
Any idea?
very best regards,
Chris
