-- url of the page with the problem -- : avonrivercomputers.com.au/balanced/
-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.4.8
-- PHP version -- : 5.4.41
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : Firefox 43.0.4

When browsing the shop as a public user, the prices on the products are correct and have the tax included. When I go to the checkout and log in as a registered user, or super user, the product adds the tax on which increases the price by 10%. I can't find anywhere that defines a public price that is different from a registered user. This is driving me insane, Steve

Hi,

You potentially have to check your taxes settings, particularly for the options "Customer type" and the "Access level" part.
Be sure too that you don't have many prices set per product, one price for public and another one for registered.

I have checked the taxes as suggested and customer types is set to "All customer types" as the only setting in there. I do not have more than one price per product and I have no variants. This doesn't seem to be the problem, Regards Steve

Update: I have updated Hikashop to the latest version. I have checked every tab under configuration and cannot find any reference of different prices or even access levels set. One thing I did notice is in the product configuration. The fields "Price" and "Price with tax" are the same no matter what I do. If I enter 35.00 into the price field, the price with tax shows 35.00. This is true if I do the reverse. This doesn't seem to be working to me. Taxes are being applied across the board on all products suggesting it is a global setting somewhere. Just to emphasize what is happening, if I browse the shop as a public user, I see the item prices as $35.00, $100.00 etc. These are the prices with th 10% GST already added. If I log in as either a registered or Super User, the same prices update to $38.50 and $110.00 etc which is adding the GST on again. Any ideas? Steve

Hi there. Check to see what you have set in Configuration as your "Main Tax Zone" and make sure it's a zone that defaults to with taxes if you want them to show to everyone.

Without checking your site backend, I believe the main tax zone may be set incorrectly. Then what's happening when someone logs in is HikaShop is able to get a zone from the address on the account, and thus shows tax for that zone.

Hi, Yes I have checked and re-checked the settings in the main taxes section. I have set the main tax zone to Australia which is 10% country wide. I did notice that if I click on the country (Australia) to edit in the main tax zone, the drop down shows a file icon that says error.I shouldn't have to select the states as the same tax applies to all states anyway. Do you think this could be the problem? Don't forget, I am using HS Essentials so I don't have access settings, regards, Steve

Looks like I found the problem. It was in the taxes section as suggested above. I had put in my post code in the taxes configuration. This makes sense now because as a public or non logged in user, there is no post code so it would not apply the tax rule to the products. As soon as I logged in, HS now knows my post code, matches it with the tax rule and applies the 10% GST to the product displaying the correct price.A suggestion to the developers of HikaShop, This issue and a lot of other misunderstandings could easily be averted if you incorporated tool tips on the field titles. This could have told me that the postcode should not be put in there unless you only want the tax rule on that postcode. Tooltips could potentially save you hundreds of hours trawling through questions that could be answered at the source. Just a thought. Thanks to all who offered suggestions, Steve :)
