I found another weird behavior of the coupon codes. The 10% discount code is set for a particular category (producten) but it also applies to a completely different category (cadeaubonnen). I really don't understand how this can happen? See the attached screenprints. I also tried with the setting "coupon percentage applies to product only", but then the discount doesn't work at all.

Indeed the "coupon percentage applies to product only" setting will have to be turn on for what you want to do. Otherwise, the coupon will apply to all the products as long as one product of that category is in the cart.

Also, make sure that you're using the latest version. If that's the case, then it probably comes from a bug that we corrected recently and which will be in next release of HikaShop. In that case please request a patch via our contact form with the edition you're using and that should hopefully help.

I'm using version 1.5.7, that's indeed the latest one. Can you please send me the patch?

Running HikaShop 2.2.1 on Joomla 3

I am seeing the behaviour described above. I have a coupon which I've restricted to a specific category [Penguin Packs], however the coupon is being applied to all products in the cart whether or not they are a member of the Penguin Packs category.

And I have ensured that the "For product only" switch is ON.

Hi,

Can you provide a screenshot of your discount configuration and of your product (in the backend) which is not in the "penguin pack" category ?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks.
I tried to reproduce your problem in my local website but it works correctly.
I see that we have a patch made during august which fix something around the "coupon applied on product only".
This patch in include in the latest downloadable package so, can you try to re-download HikaShop ?
Maybe you have a 2.2.1 package from before this fix.

Jerome,

OK downloaded the latest and installed it. It's fixed the problem...

However! I have now noticed another issue... The product which belongs to the category where the coupon is valid has a Product Option. The discount in the coupon is not applying to the product option but only the product. Is there a solution to this?

Thanks

Hi,

At this moment I will recommend you to use some "hidden" categories for your coupons.
You can create an unpublished category and put products into it.
By applying the coupon to this hidden category you can target the products you want and not interfere with the rest of your store.

Hi Jerome,

OK - are you saying that a product option can be created in a new, hidden category and that you can create multiple instances of the same coupon code?

So:-

COUPONS CATEGORY

XX40 PPACKS
XX40 PRODUCT-OPTIONS / FOR-PPACKS

^ So in this case at checkout entering XX40 applies the discount to products in the PPACKS category and to product options that are in the PRODUCT-OPTIONS/FOR-PPACKS category?

Would be grateful if you could clarify, thanks.

Hi,

Every HikaShop products can be in several categories in the same time. A product option is basically, an HikaShop product.

I am saying that in order to apply a coupon on several products, the best is to put these products in a same category and apply the coupon on this category.
I am saying that a category which is not published, won't be displayed in the front-end.
I am saying that a unpublished category is useful if you want to apply a discount on several products in the same time.

It is not possible to create several coupons with the same code.
And because you can't select several categories but just one. The "trick" is to have one special category which will regroup all targeted products.
Because a product can have several categories, there is no specific problem. You just have to add the special "discount coupon category" to the products.

Is it more clear ?
