I just got an email asking for a review of Hikashop.

I've been using Hikashop for over a month now. My client bought the business edition. I played around with the free edition for a couple of months and decided to convince him to go in this direction after testing Virtuemart, Magento, and Prestashop. There have been some setbacks but I do think we still made the right choice.

The pros:
1. Support for Hikashop is excellent.
2. The user interface is very good.
3. It's a Joomla component and Joomla rocks.
4. It's a lot less complicated than Virtuemart.

The cons:
1. The documentation is not very good.
2. It's not that easy to customize, but mostly because the documentation is not that good.
3. The themes we bought from the site didn't have enough instruction and had a lot of code commented out. We figured it out eventually. Would love to have themes with complimentary Joomla stylesheets and template files.

You have to be a decent developer to customize this software. That said, the support team is very helpful.

I'd love to be on the development team for Hikashop and maybe even write their documentation because I think it has huge potential.

A lot of the reviews I have seen are very complimentary. We still aren't active with our site yet, so the final verdict is not out yet.

Jim Heil.

Thank you for your feedback.

Yes, documentation is something that we want to work on next year, after the revamp of our website.
