Hi,

First, could you go in your currencies listing and click on the "udpate rates" button ? Does it works ? If it works, that means that the problem comes from the setup of the cron. If it doesn't, you should see an error message with more information.

If the cron task is not working, we have some documentation on that which will help you find the problem: www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...ashop-cron-task.html

Ah yes, that's it ! The currency rates update functionality is only available in the Business edition.
That explains why you don't see it on your end since you're using the Essential edition.

oh dear!... does that mean that the currency converter doesn't work at all on essential version?
Ive checked the cron, and that is working fine... so it seems a bit silly not having currency rates if you can have a cron to update stuff...

The cron task is a general feature which can be used for currency updates and other stuff. Some users use it to automatically import CSV files with new prices/quantities and thus don't require the Business edition. We will also add other features in the future in HikaShop which will be in the Essential edition and will require the cron task.

Thanks...
Right, ok..

I'm a bit confused... So I have to set the rates manually, by just adding the correct rate in the field? but surely they change quite frequently, no?

The currencies rate change every second the markets are open. Our rates auto update plugin updates them once a day as the ECB feed we're using is only updated once a day.
Some people prefer to set the rates manually in their shop and update them only once in a while. It depends on your needs... If you don't publish the currencies but just make them displayable, it allows you to display to your users a rough estimate of what their bank will charge them when purchasing your products that you sell in your own currency.

For example, on our website, we have only the USD and EUR published. So our users can only pay in EUR or USD. We also have other currencies displayable so that we can show an estimate of the prices. That doesn't mean that a japanese cannot pay on our website. It just means that the transaction will be in EUR and that his bank will charge him the conversion fees (in that case the conversion rate on your website doesn't need to be really accurate). On the other end, when someone pays in USD, our own bank charges us conversion fees (so we need to keep the rate up to date on our website to reduce the difference between what we charge and what we really get)

Thanks for the detailed reply...
but, sorry for my ignorance, So, the 'rates auto update plugin' is the plugin that is not available for us to use on the essential version... ?
And I understand the bits about users being able to buy anyway, as long as they are published etc..
basically you are saying that unless we have the business version, we have to add the rates manually?

I guess there are many sites to get this info from?

Thanks for your patience on this... Im a designer, and have no idea, or indeed any care about currency rates and 'the market'.. its all gobbldygoop to me :-)

By the way, Hikashop is great! .. apart from maybe this rates thing :-)

Yes, unless you have the Business edition, you need to enter the rates manually.

You can get the rates of the main currencies on that page: www.ecb.int/stats/exchange/eurofxref/html/index.en.html

Hi Nicolas,

With the currency calculator, am I right in saying that when a currency is published, the shopper can pay in their own currency, instead of AUD?

Should I just have AUD published, and just display the other currencies to give a round about idea of the conversion rates to the user?

Thanks! :)

Indeed. When the currency is displayed, the user can select it and see the prices in his currency, but when reaching the checkout, it is changed back automatically to the main currency. only when the currency is published (or is the main currency) can the user pay with it.

Hi,

The message can be changed via the translations edition yes: www.hikashop.com/en/download/languages.html#modify
However, I think that you will still have the blue area if you empty the message.

"Update rates" works for me.
But I want it to be done automatically every 1 hour.

I am getting error "Error triggering your website on the url: sofasurmesure.com/index.php?option=com_h...&ctrl=cron&no_html=1 " when I edit and save the default cron job on url mysite.com/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=cron
The currency auto update "Currency rates refresh frequency" is set hourly.
If I load the url " mysite.com/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=cron " in browser I get
"HikaShop Triggered at 02 February 2015 10:40
The system won't be triggered before 02 February 2015 10:49"
