In the options of your related module the option "content on product page" is set to "in the same categories" so it will display the products in the same categories and not the related products.

Ahh doh! Sorry. I've changed that now but perhaps there is something else too because the related products are still showing on pages where they shouldn't be. That is where I have NOT selected related products in the edit page of the products.

The content synchronize option should be activated in the same option screen.

OK that solved it. I had deliberately had this set to NO because originally when set to YES it was displaying products from the category of the product. Since other settings have been corrected that does not happen now.

Well that's another issue solved! Thanks again.

Is there a way of having the related product show in a different module, e.g. a sidebar but only on certain pages as in the above example?

Yes, you can set your related product module in a position of your template instead of putting it in the "modules under the product page" option. Just publish it and set it to a valid position of your template in the joomla module manager.

Hi Nicolas, I tried that first but then it was showing up even where there was no selected product. I had the related item module published to all pages. Is this the expected behaviour, as I really only want it to appear when the product view is selected?

If you set a module in a position of your template, it will be displayed on all the pages you set it to display (in the settings of your module, you can restrict it to be displayed only in hikashop for example).
If you really want to only display a module on product pages but not under the product, you will have to edit your template and add some code around the position so that the modules of that position will only be loaded when on the product page. But then, it depends on how your template is made and require some programming skills...

Hi Nicolas

I have tried to set this up for the first time and damned if I can get anything to show up under a product.

I (thought) I followed the directions in the docs, and what was said here but I still do not get anything at all showup.

So, I have a product in a category X, there are other products in categories Z & Y. I set these 2 products to be related to my original product.

I then setup a new joomla content module. Called it related Products. Position None. All pages. Published.

The settings for the Hika part are as follows...

And Saved that.

Under Hika Shop configuration, under display, I clicked on "Modules to display under content" and selected my "related products" module, saved that.

Set syncronise with currently displayed item when possible to yes. Saved that.

Just not sure what I am doing wrong here as nothing at all shows up.

Any help would be appreciated.

I played some more with this and I must be blind because I have still not been able to get this module to display under my content, regardless of whether I set it to related products or all products etc.

By the way, this is 1.5.6 free version.

I swear I have read every thread I can find on this and all the common "problems" I have checked over and over.

Related products can be in any category can they not, even if they are not part of the category the main product is in?

Hi,

Your problem comes from that:

Under Hika Shop configuration, under display, I clicked on "Modules to display under content" and selected my "related products" module, saved that.

The option where you should do that is called "Modules under the product page" and not "Modules to display under content" which is for something else.
