Using HikaShop in Joomla 2.5.14 / 2.5.17 starter version,
but also shows up on your own demo website.

Create a category called 'Africa', that exact word, Africa
In the administrator backend it gets displayed as 'All of Africa',
but looks ok on the front end. A little translation bug there.

Just to let you know.

That's because the category names handle translation overrides and that there is already a translation for Africa to be displayed as "all of africa".
You can change it with a translation override if you want to:
www.hikashop.com/download/languages.html#modify

That doesn't make any sense at all.

I found the translation in the section:
\language\en-GB\en-GB.com_hikashop.ini
;control panel widgets
AFRICA="All of Africa"

But when i enter Africa, or any other name as a category name, it should be handled like content data and not be subject to translation that is part of the software.

I just tried a category name Air and Sea,
they get translated to 'By air' and 'By sea' respectively.

Problem is what if i want the widget to say "All of Africa" but have a product category called Africa.
That is now impossible.

Category names should not be subject to translation
At least not the same translation as the software.

Actually on my local version with 2.5 the names do not get translated on the front end,
the menu just says Air and Sea and Africa, as i would expect.

I just added a line:
MYOVERRIDE_AFRICA="Africa"
and entered the category name as such.
Still.... a bit weird to have to do this.
The language file should have prefixed names which seems to be the convention like COM_HIKA_AFRICA

Anyhow...
no big deal now that i know about it.

Dammit, that doesn't work on 2.5 as the front end doesn't get translated.
I'll just change the translation file.
