-- HikaShop version -- : 4.2.2
-- HikaSerial version -- : 3.0.1
-- Joomla version -- : 3.9.14
-- PHP version -- : 7.2.26
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : Firefox 71.0

I am looking for someone who can walk me through, step by step, how to set up a gift certificate. I have read the documentation and tried to copy the demo, but I think I don't totally grasp the whole serial concept. Please don't just refer me to the documentation or demo. I am looking for a mentor.
Any one willing?

Hello,

It would require some details about what you have done in order to understand "where" you are and what you need to do next.

Hi Jerome,
I am sorry I took so long to get back to you but I would like to try to figure out how to create a gift certificate. The concept is that someone would buy and pay for a gift certificate and then give it to someone who would then use it to purchase any of those products. The gift certificates might come in a couple different amounts — say $20 and $40.
I have purchased Hikaserial and used the demo as a guide to:
1- Create an HikaShop coupon with a flat amount-$20 (this is the only time I changed a setting from what the demo had, which was 0 EUR)
2 - Note the id of the coupon and unpublished it.
3 - Create a "Coupon Generator" entry.
4 - Enter the coupon id which would be use as template.

I opened up one of my products that I would like this to be able to be applied towards and added it to the serial section.
I am not at a loss as to how to test this? whether I need to create another coupon for $40? id there a way to create a gift certificate that you can fill in an amount? How to sell the gift certificate?
As you can see, I don't know what to do next.
Please help if you can.'
Ellen

Hello,

You will need to configure a "pack" so it will use the "coupon generator" for the serial generation.
Once you have your "pack", you will be able to configure your product and set-up the relation between that product and the pack.

You can choose to have two coupons with two generators.
Otherwise you can have one coupon and use the "variable discount" setting in the coupon generator ; thus the coupon price will be the price of the product (that the customer will pay).
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/1...ugins-coupongen.html

Please check that your coupon (that you will use as template) is unpublished.

If you do want to have a fully dynamic gift certificate, you must use the "variable discount" setting and the HikaShop donation plugin/configuration :
demo.hikashop.com/index.php/en/hikashop/...t-page/donation-page

I do recommend the usage of the variable discount because you will have fewer coupon template and fewer coupon generators (just one if you do have just one set of coupon restrictions). And more specially if you do want to use the HikaShop donation.

I created a pack, see image for settings.
My coupon is unpublished.
I would like to use the variable discount setting but I don't know what to put in there. The demo has 100, but I think the documentation is telling me I should leave it blank for a 'donation', is that correct? What about any other settings in the coupon generation plug in. I am attaching an image of those settings. Anything I should change?

Then what? How do I present the gift certificate option as a menu item or link on the front end?
How do I test if it works once It is purchased and applied to a product?
Can it be applied to a category of products or each product individually?

Thanks for all you patience and help,
Ellen

Hello,

Please check the documentation page I gave you and yes, you have to use the same value than the demo website.
It is a percentage value ; if you let the input empty, you're not using the feature at all.

I changed the percentage value back to 100 in the coupon generator.
I created a menu item for the product Gift Cert.
I filled in the amount and proceeded to cart. The item is listed and the amount, but the amount is not listed under Total Price and it is not included in the totals.See attached.

What am I doing wrong?

Ok, I am getting closer:)
I have a menu item for the Gift Certificate (product).
I made a purchase with the value of $1.
the checkout process went as expected.
Since for testing purposes, I did not want to use a credit card or paypal, I used the payment option Collect on Delivery.
I changed the status manually to confirmed in the back end and requested an email be sent.
I received the email confirming the purchase, but it did not include a 'serial' number.
I did publish the plugin for Attach Serial as described here I filled it out according to the example at the end of the page.I also added the file to the product Gift Certificate like in the demo.
But it doesn't show up anywhere.
How do I 'attach' it to an email? What am I missing?

Hello,

It depends how you confirmed the order.
If you change it via the HikaShop order listing ; you cannot have the serials since the email is generated before the order is really confirmed. So the order do not have any serial yet when the email is processed.
That is why (and you can find it in a lot of HikaSerial threads) we do highly recommend to only confirm orders in the HikaShop order detail and use the checkbox to ask for an email notification ; which will be generated and send after the real confirmation of the order (just like an order confirmed by a payment plugin)

So I tried it again, this time confirming it in the details. I received one confirmation, and it did include a serial number. But not the gift card from the Attach Serial plugin.
I tried to make a new purchase using the coupon, it accepted the coupon but the value was $0.
What am I doing wrong?

Hello,

It would depend how you have configured the "attach serial" plugin.

CF : www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/1...ns-attachserial.html
The plugin should be related to the pack that you're using in your product.
The setting "attach in email" should be enable.
The template image should have a green mark.

I generally recommend to configure the usage of the "product download". It requires to configure a virtual product file (using the "attach as download" key as hikashop product file path) but once it is set-up, you can easily test the generation of images in your HikaShop backend (in the order details, just have to download the product file).

I am attaching a screen shot of my settings. I think I have it right.
How do I set up a virtual product file?
