Advanced selection of product properties

Another issue when filling up the product database:

Imagine 3 products A, B and C. A is available in colors red and blue, B in yellow and black, C in red and black.

As far as I understand I have to set up the product attribute color three times, always having 2 options and then link each product to the corresponding colorset... This will become really ugly, when having lots of products with lots of different colorsets all just named "color:" in the properties list. Confusing, isn't ist?

So the best way would be to have only one colorset with colors red, blue, yellow and black and then being able to exclude options in the product view.

Lokking forward to see what you think and happy to discuss any questions on this topic with you.

That's indeed what you should do. Create only one characteristic with all the possible values. Then, after you add it to one product, click on the "manage variant" button to see the list of all the variants generated by HikaShop automatically and remove the ones you don't need for that product.

Still not advanced... rather the opposite in my understanding. Imagine a product of 4 colours (all the same price) available from 12 colours defined in the option, 4 set-ups for Option A (each at a different price) and 4 set-ups for Option B (2 different prices)...

This results in 12 x 4 x 4 "product options" in the first place with the following steps to complete
1. delete the 8 colours not available... annoying but not too bad.
2. Go through each of the remaining 4 x 4 x 4 options and enter the price ... annoying and time consuming as there are only 4 x 2 prices

To top it of, what happens if a knew colour becomes available... The colours were deleted and now it cannot be added again without doing the whole configuration all over again... Same if it was a totally new colour (#13)

Please add some flexibility to the options management and add price tags on per option basis (form within the product configuration not within to option configuration!) rahter than pricing the option combination individually.

From what you're describing, you should rather use the options feature that the characteristics feature:
www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...ct-form.html#options
That way, you don't get a variant for each combination of characteristics and you set the price of each option independently. When you add a new color to an option, it is available automatically to all the products using that option.
Characteristics should be used when you have to manage a stock for each variant of the product.

Also note that you don't need to redo the whole process when you add a new value to a characteristic. Just go in the "manage variants" area, click on the new button and set your new variant there and off you go.
