Responsive doubts on 2.5

I was wondering about responsivity on HS2 and joomla 2.5

Correct me if i'm wrong: Responsive features of HS2 works because they rely on the bootstrap framework for frontend display of content, joomla 3.0 have this as a default option. Joomla 2.5 does not.

But if the template i want to use relies on bootstrap for its responsiveness (on 2.5), will HS2 behave accordingly?

Or if i want Hikashop to be responsive on front end i MUST use J!3 ?

Thanks!

Hi,

You can activate the responsive features in HikaShop by modifying some views.
There is no option for the moment which activate (or deactivate) the bootstrap template in HikaShop.

Could you give some more information about what needs modifying for it to work on 2.5 ?

The site I am developing is unlikely to easily upgrade to 3.0

First, you would have to make sure that you're using a bootstrap template for joomla 2.5.
Then, you would have the edit the numerous views of the front end of HikaShop and change the text HIKASHOP_J30 to true in order to activate the joomla 3.0 display. Beware that there are tens of layouts on the frontend and a few hundred of HIKASHOP_J30 in them. You can edit them via the menu Display>Views.

I just created a duplicate of product / listing_img_title.php called listing_resp.php
Didn't change anything in that file but then modified product / listing_div.php to look for anything set to use listing_resp

Then just ignored rows and used floated:left 150px divs for the products. Works fine for now.

I had a look at the responsive implementation in the views. Couldn't you have set a constant if it was set to responsive, rather than testing for HIKASHOP_J30 ? Then just included bootstrap and set the variable for 1.5, 2.5 users?

Hi,

With Joomla 3.0, we implement two different layouts, the classical HikaShop layout and the bootstrap one for Joomla 3.0.
I have create a ticket in our TODO list, which explain that we have to add a configuration value, so the test would be something like

if(HIKASHOP_J30 || $config->get('bootstrap_display',0)) {

Thanks, would the template need to be re-created with bootstrap for this to work? ... I'm not very familiar with it.

There are templates which include bootstrap.
But if you want to have your website responsive, you have to have a bootstrapped template. Otherwise, the template would have to be redone yes.
There exist lot of bootstrapped templates for 2.5.
For example, these templates: www.joostrap.com/template-listings

And what do those who use Warp6?
Joomla!3.0 + Warp6 (via YOOtheme) + HikaShop2.0 = A lot of bugs ... :(

HikaShop is fully responsive on 3.0

I've never tried that Warp6 template so I wouldn't be able to say much without more information on your problems.
