Hello,

I am looking to create some thing like:

www.national.co.uk

has on their home page, a product search option and selling products.

Can I easily update the database of hikashop i.e. prices with an import option? as we have thousands of tyres.

Regards
Tony

Hi Tony,

Yes VERY easy to import. That is one of the main strengths with HikaShop.

Import via csv/spreadsheet.

Sounds very good!

Does this allow importing updates? i.e. if the price changes on our system from supplier we can just re-import?

What kind of search modules does Hika offer?

Yes import via CSV, or text import.

For functionality (search, filters, layouts...) why not chackout the Demo - menu at top of page

Hello,

I did quickly try it but got an unknown columns on import.

Do you have any docs on how to import events? i.e. what you have to do to make a successful import?

Many thanks
Tony

Hi tony,

best way is to create a product in Hikashop and then export it to get a template of the headings/columns.

I use 'Open Office' for opening up csv's and importing as it handles CVS's better than Excel. ANd I do most of the data manipulation in Excel.

Thank you..

I do not think this is going to work as a simple solution.

The client will need to do updates weekly, this would be replacing the existing prices and also adding new ones if there are any. They receive a file from the manufacture and this is the pricing list.

See the attached file, as we are going to be having non tech users updating the records..

Please let me know if you think this can be achieved simply.

Regards
Tony

Very easy...

If it is just price upadate, you can do a text import with just product ID and price.

You say it is very easy, how do we associate the product ids when the other system is different as Hikashop uses its own product id's?

Well not sure of the schematic of the 'other system', but how I do it is via an excel spreadsheet were I have done a vlookup that correlates one system to the other.

Once you have imported you products initially, export them and you will have a list of products with not only Product_ID as well as a product number (which will be a point of reference between systems.

Thanks guys, I'm really starting to get some where now.

I'm now on to Custom Fields.. I want to add them to the Products not Address? is this only available in the paid version? as we cannot select Table it's automatically selecting Address.

Many thanks
