SEF for Hikashop (Joomla 3.0 and beyond)

Hi all,

I am wondering if they are any thoughts about SEF via other components other than sh404sef.

I ask because I notice that only JOOMSEF (ARTIO) is Joomla3 ready with the other two leaders (sh404SEF & AceSEF) not J3.0 ready.

Over the past few years I have used sh404sef and like it, BUT i cannot get an indication from them to when sh404sef will be ready. I, along with others, have posted to their forum and have not got a reply - they even say they don't have a roadmap. (Very frustrating

Are they any plans to include other SEF's with Hikashop (which I beleve to be the superior online store for Joomla).

Hi,

SEF is available by default in Joomla. And HikaShop is compatible with the SEF system in Joomla. You don't need any third party component to have SEF with Joomla and HikaShop.

Also, AceSEF is also compatible with HikaShop, not only Sh404SEF.

JoomSEF states on there website:
support for sef_ext.php files written for OpenSEF or SEF Advance (since v1.4.0)
support for Joomla API router.php files

That's good news for you since HikaShop has both a router.php and a sef_ext.php file for SEF support so you should be able to use it with HikaShop.

HikaShop is an ecommerce extension, not a SEF engine extension. It's not our role to handle all the SEF of your website so you will never see a SEF engine in HikaShop. If we were to do a SEF extension one day, it would be a separate extension, but we don't have any such plan and there is still a lot of things left to do in HikaShop :)

Hi Nicolas, thanks for reply.

Wasnt meant to be a question about whether you was going to develop an SEF app, but what sef components/devs you were working on/with. (Currently there is only one J3.0 compatable)

I have used sh404sef for several years across several sites (including Hikashop sites)but there is no indication yet when there will have J3.0 compatibility. So am looking at options/alternatives.

While the default Joomla sef works, it is very limited when it comes to url customization etc.

Currently testing with JoomSEF (as no indication from other SEF components when they will be J3 R3ADY) and can confirm it does it pretty well.

Will report back soon should others be interested in alt to sh404SEF.
