We have moved our old virtuemart shop over to hikashop for our new website which we are building in joomla 3.0

All our product categories are now listed there, however, i want to now change some of these as 'next level down' categories under existing product categories.

So instead of 12 categories, we have 4 main product categories with 2-3 next level categories there after.

I can't seem to find a way of doing this?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can assist me.

Hi,

When you edit a category via the Products->Categories menu, you can change its parent category on the right area.

Thanks Nicolas,

I eventually worked it out after persevering!

Another question relating to URLS.

URL'S currently showing as .com/shop/category/16-training-events

I would like them to read the thewebsite.com/categoryname/product
loose shop and the actual name of the category?
can't find where to alter the settings to allow this? if its a global setting how can i change this?

The other problem is that the item ID's are displayed in the URL's.- how can i turn these off?

Thanks in advance,

Sophie

Hi,

You have to use a sef component like "JoomSEF" to remove some parts of the url.
And in Config > Features > SEF, check if the option "Activate smaller url" is enable.

The ids can be removed with the sef component, but it's not really recommended. In the case of you have two products with the same name, it can be a problem. The sef component will take one of the articles but not necessarily the good one.
