Hi,

We want to re structure our shop, setting up the filters is no problem.

But when we set up our filter for size, color etc. We want our main menu to be structure like so:

|- Shop buy colour
|- Red
|- Green
|- Blue

Is it possible to set up a menu item that when clicked a filter will already be selected?

For example on www.very.co.uk/ , if you navigate to women -> dresses via the main menu, on the left you can see filters are selected.

Thanks

Hi there,

I'm not exactly sure I understand what your want.
If you want the displayed filters to be different for each menu, I guess the best is to configure your filters and apply them specifically to the given category.
If you want to always use the same filters and make them set to a certain value when clicking on a menu link, it will be harder. You will to write some custom code to set the filters when you click, it won't be easy. However, it sounds interesting so we will think about it.

Thank you for your response,

The second option is what I require:
'If you want to always use the same filters and make them set to a certain value when clicking on a menu link'

Do you have any pointers on the best method/workflow I could follow to achieve this?

As I said it will require some coding skills since we didn't implemented this feature.
The first solution would be to edit your layout and set the filters parameters according to the menu where you are. It's quite long and boring but it's probably the easiest way (but you still have to look at the filters in order to understand how they are made and what you have to fulfill).
Second option would be in the view as well or in a plugin and would use AJAX to automatically give the informations to the filters then reload the page. It's a little bit harder but cleaner.
You can also ask on the commercial jobs forum if you don't feel confident enough :).
