Hi
i can search by myself but forum is the easy way instead test .

I have modify some core file in hikashop and before update i need to backup the file i modify or copy paste under the template name ( best way that i do not follow until now )

So
1- How is define the date attach to file after install a hiskashop package.
2- Does all the file have the same date after fresh installlation /new update installation ?
3- the date is the date of the local installation ?
4- How an update ll change the date on an "non change/change" files
5- Update contain only the file that have been change ?

I think all this question are not usefull , is there a software that manage files change ( date size). I have local subversion server so perhaps backup all hikashop directory is the way to go before new installation update ? thisway it let us know wich code have been change beetween versions !!

Thank's

Hi,

The date is defined on the download date.
When you install / update, it replace all the HikaShop files so the dates are all updated.
The previously changed files override the default one, so your changes are still there, but you modified files are not up to date.

You need to compare the files to see which modifications were made.
Using a subversion is a good way to update, in case of problems, you can backup your website.

Hi

I have a local bug and need to reinstall HKS . I use Akeeba backup so it is ok .
but for backup only HKShop / Serial ; what is the best recommanded way ?
I think if no change have been made on local file , only Mysql back up is efficient for data/content ? right ?

Thank's

Hi,

If you didn't modified the core files, you just have to backup the database (all "#_hikashop_" tables), the "media/com_hikashop" folder and the "templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/com_hikashop" one (for the view overrides).

For HikaSerial, it is the same kind but the "media/com_hikaserial" is not required except if you put some images into (for the plugin "attachserial").
All HikaSerial content is stored in "#_hikaserial_" tables.

Regards,

PS : The Joomla plugin table could be useful for parameters of some HikaShop plugins.
