-- Joomla version -- : 2.5.28

Hello
I have a product with alias: 1876-non-contact-infrared-thermometer-model-ms6550b
so the product URL is: instrucenter.com/fa/non-contact-thermome...ometer-model-ms6550b

when i checked google webmaster tools i found that there are several URL for this product even in other product categories such as:
instrucenter.com/fa/portable-humidty-tra...ometer-model-ms6550b
instrucenter.com/fa/portable-hiumidity-meter/1876-non-contact-infrared-thermometer-model-ms6550b
and also even more URL for this product.
I checked product backend, there is only one category chosen for this product.

How can I fix this SEO problem?

Hi,

You should set the "Force canonical URLs on listings" option of the HikaShop configuration to "Use canonical URL and generate it if missing".
Once you display a product listing, the products on that listing will have their canonical URL generated and Google won't take into account duplicates.

Hello nicolas
I set that option to "Use canonical URL and generate it if missing". but there is still duplication in that product.
I think for new products i will have no problem but for old products there should be some way to fix duplication. can you help me?

I also want to know why you use Canonical URL in hikashop? why you dont use a system like K2 for URLs? I think Canonical URL make a lot of problem for users and it is doubt full for users.

Hi,

I checked your pages and the canonical URLs are there. So the problem is fixed.
If google tells you that you still have a problem, it just means that they didn't parse again the pages yet. It doesn't matter if the products are new or not. You just have to wait for google to parse again the pages.

There is the exact same problem with duplicate URLs in K2. The problem is not in HikaShop but the way Joomla has different menu items to access the same content and the way you configured your menu items.
You can for example see this plugin for K2:
extensions.joomla.org/extension/canonical-links-for-k2
It has the same purpose as the "Force canonical URLs on listings" option of HikaShop.

Hi,

That's not a problem. What is a problem is that you didn't tell google that both URLs were in fact for the same content.
Now, if you look at the HTML of the page, there is a canonical tag added which is the same for both URLs:
take.ms/WEmKM
take.ms/t7J0T
So now the search engines know that even if the two URLs are different, it's the same page and it won't count them as duplicate content. So your SEO won't be degraded.
That's the purchase of the "canonical" system.
You don't want to remove the multiple URLs because that would actually hinder your traffic as people would see dead links on search engines. Instead, you just want to tell the search engines that all the URLs of a product are actually the same one so that it doesn't flag them as duplicate content.
