Is there a way to add a surcharge to a payment method. For example if someone chooses to pay via paypal we can add 2.5% to their bill?

There is no option for that yet. It's in the todo list.

I'm guessing there isn't a convenient hack?

How far down the todo list is it?

Indeed. You would have to basically do the feature as we would to have it working. There are a few things involved as you need to handle the configuration of the price in all the payment plugins, add the price to the order on the loading of the cart and edit the different views (cart on checkout order details on both front and back and email) to add the display of the payment price.

Well, we do the features based on the amount of requests of a feature as well as financial incentives. so it's more down the list than other things...

Hello,

One of my sites would really like this. They run on a micro-thin margin and PayPal's charges pretty well wipes it out. They don't want to embed PayPal's charges into the general prices, as this would penalise the majority of customers who pay by cheque.

May I suggest a 'payment option surcharge' as one of the extra features for one of Hikashop's commercial versions?

In the mean time, in the checkout workflow, would I be able to force different 'shipping methods', depending on which 'payment method' the customer chooses? Or vice versa, whereby the choice of 'shipping method' determined which 'payment methods' were available at checkout? (This would have the same effect as surcharging the 'payment method'.)

Many thanks.

Robert

Hi,

Yes, that's something we want to add in the future. We didn't had the time yet.

However, we added the possibility to restrict payment methods based on shipping methods in the latest version of HikaShop so you can already do the work around you're suggesting. You can look at the "shipping methods" option in the options screen of your payment methods for that.

Hi guys, still testing out hikashop so far - great work, thats why I decided to move to the Business version right away...
However, the surcharge of paypal or oven any other payment system would be an important feature to have in my eyes. The convenience of using paypal is both for the shop and the user helpful, the charges could then be halfed in some way...

Kind regards,

Sinan
