Checkout: continue button does not work

Hi,

during the checkout process, at the 1. step (login or registration) the continue button does not work - nothing happens.
Next step would be to choose the shipping method. The shipping method works when displayed in the first step.

What could be the error in my configuration. (There is no error messages at all).

I've noticed on one of our sites that the first time you try to click through to the next stage of checkout it just reloads the same page. It does the same thing with product pagination, but the second click always works.
