Paid download not working

Hi again, Nicolas.

I tested the paid downloads function and it did not work for me. I received a confirmation of the order from PayPal, but there were no instructions on how to download the file.

What am I missing?

Hi,

Please make sure that you activated the notification from paypal in the paypal plugin. That will automatically change the status of the order to confirmed when the payment is received and send a confirmation email to the user. In that email, there will be a link to the order details page where you can download the files.

As you can see in the image, paypal notifications are activated. I received a receipt for payment from paypal. But there was no link to the download.

When the notification is received from paypal, hikashop sends two emails: one to the administrator to notify him of the payment, and one to the customer to notify him that you received his payment. In that second email, there is a link to the order. Could it be that your hosting company is limiting the sending of emails to one per page ?

If this is what you're talking about, you can see there is no link to the order. Any other suggestions on where the look for the problem?

That's the email.

I've looked at the email rapidly on our end and the link is not added if you use the "no registration" option. Since orders details and downloads are secured so that only the customer can access his own orders and downloads, hikashop needs to be able to authenticate him. That requires that you use either the normal registration or the simplified registration.

OK, thanks, Nicolas. It makes sense.

But it seems most of the problems I've been having with HikaShop are because I want to avoid having my customers register and login in order to purchase. Your inline help system is very good, but the differences between registration, simplified registration, and no registration could be explained much further.

HikaShop is a good product and I'm still hoping it will serve my needs - once I figure it all out. But I would have given up long ago were it not for your excellent support. I thank you for your patience.

I am working with free version 1.5.0. I tested a download and experienced the same problem as Paul G. I have no option for changing the required registration.

20 minutes after confirmation of payment through PayPal, no email was received with a link to the download file.

Your problem is different. Your problem is that HikaShop is not receiving the PayPal payment notification. Please look at the documentation on that page for more information on a solution:

As the shop owner, I received:

Hello,
A Paypal notification was received with the status Completed. The order is now confirmed.


This notification was for the order D3 on the website robinsdesktop.com/ You can access the order details directly by clicking on the link below after logging in your back end:

I also received a separate notice from PayPal and invoice from my shop to the test email address.

My website is not on a local host.
My website was not under maintenance.
Allow payment notifications from PayPal was on.
I have not changed IP addresses.

I will check on the htaccess and the script issue, but having a merchant account I think they are ok.

It appears that everything worked except providing the link or the downloadable file.

Ah ok, you're receiving the payment notification as admin ! Then it's not a problem of paypal notification.
The email to the user is sent just after the email to the owner is sent. Your customer should have received a notification as well (check your spam folder).
I see that you're not using the latest version (the email to the admin has now a whole recap of the order), so I would first advise you to update to the latest version.
If after that, you're not even receiving the admin notification email, it means that you have an email problem: your email server is rejecting the HTML emails, probably because of an encoding issue. You should try to tweak the emails option in the mail tab of the configuration of HikaShop.

The "customer" did receive the notification.

Oh, but I AM using the latest. 1.5.0 . I just logged into the back-end to update and have a nice green bar informing me that I have the most recent, stable version.

I have ALL the emails. I have a notification of the order and I have the notification of payment received by PayPal, with instructions to ship the purchase. It is supposed to be a downloadable file.

There is a bug in the current release on the status update email and the link to the order page is missing.
Please replace the file media/com_hikashop/mail/order_status_notification.html.php by the one in the package enclosed.
That should add the link on the order number in the email.

Then, you can just change the text of the email via the interface in the tab languages of the configuration:

Something still isn't correct. I replaced the file as instructed through c-panel. I tried to order the download with a "free coupon" and by paying through PayPal. (Using a test account)

I got order confirmation notices for both. I got a payment notification for the paid download. Still nothing with a link to the file.

I checked the product page, the file is still there but shows no downloads.

I was really hoping this would work and would have paid for the full version if it had. If it can't be resolved soon I will just uninstall HikaShop and go with something else.

Could you give a link to your website so that we can test the problem ?
Since our last post, we released a new version which fixes that problem so you can just update to the latest version and the problem of the link to the order missing in the email will be fixed automatically.

I just tried on our demo website just to make sure that it was working and I can confirm you that by clicking on the link in the order confirmation email, I was able to access the order details page and download the files attached to the products in the order.

HikaShop will not update. I looked at that again today. It tells me "You have the latest stable version : 1.5.0."

You can manually validate the order via the backend. If you click on "yes" for the notification to the user, it will send the exact same email the system would have send when being notified of the payment by paypal.

That's normal. We didn't activated yet the update menu. You need to download the latest version directly from our website and install it via the joomla installer and you will get the new version.
