Category Descriptions Not Showing

Hi,
I've scoured your forum/documentation before asking this question, as it seems like it should be so simple to fix, but couldn't seem to find the answer. The problem, I cannot get the Category description copy to show above the main categories. Not the actual "title" (which I've purposely turned off in the Joomla menu parameters), but custom copy which I've input into the JCE text field on the Category page. I do have "show description" in the hikeshop menu options turned on, if that is indeed what it controls. I've attached a screen shot. In the area of the red stroked oval is where I want to add a heading and small description of the books below.
Thanx for your help,
Michael

I should also say that my mini cart is not showing either, even though it's turned on. Could these be caused by the same issue?

The show description option is indeed what controls the display of the description. Could you give a link to that page so that we can inspect the HTML ?

For the mini cart, please make sure that the module is published and check that it is set to display on all the pages and on a template position which exists.

The URL of your shop menu is index.php?option=com_hikashop&view=category&layout=listing
However, when you create a menu of the type hikashop listing of categories, you should have a link like this: 184.168.85.59/index.php?option=com_hikas...ut=listing&Itemid=85
Since you don't have the Itemid=XX in your URL, that means that you didn't create your menu item like explained there:
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/6...html#categories_menu
The itemid is the id of the menu and that's what is used by hikashop to get the hikashop options of your menu. If the id is missing, hikashop cannot use get the options and just use the default options set in the config.

For your cart: could you click on the button "joomla module options" and make a screenshot of that page ?

Hi,
thank you for your help so far. I understand that the ID should show in the URL in order for it to work properly, but I feel I did exactly what the instructions said and it's still not working. Now the URL for Books is .

Also, here is a screenshot of the "joomla module options" for my cart module, in regards to the mini cart not showing.
Thank you.

Could you do a screenshot of the joomla menu options page of your Shop menu ?

For the cart, pleas change the option "position" to "right".

Here's the screen shot of the joomla menu options for my main shop (WRR Online Store - categories listing) page.

Here's what I currently have for total modules and Menus, if this helps:

Modules - both enabled
1. Product Listing"
2."Hikashop Cart"

Menus - both published
1. "WRR Online Store" (type: "Category"; associated module set to "Product Listing" module)
2. "Products Listing" (type: "Product"; associated module set to "Product Listing" module) maybe this one is redundant and not needed?

Regarding the mini cart, I don't actually have a position called, "right". My main content area is called, "maincontent". Nothing happens when this is selected either, in case you reference to "right" means the main content area.

Thanks.

If you switch to the default template, do you have the Itemid parameter in the URLs of your top menu ?
Did you install a SEF component or stated configuring the joomla SEF ?

TheItemid is not only missing from the link to hikashop but in all your links, so it must be a problem outside hikashop.
I can see a lot of posts out there related to missing Itemid :

fabrikar.com/forums/showthread.php?s=a17...c2259&t=17938&page=2

You should have a position called : rightmaincolumn like shown on that page: 184.168.85.59/index.php?option=com_hikas...ting&Itemid=130&tp=1
Please use that position.

Hi, sorry for the late reply.
I only have one template to choose from currently, and that's my own custom one.
The Itemid is thoroughly perplexing me. I have not been able to use SEF settings because it does not read my links within articles correctly - gives me a 404 when clicked. I believe there is a larger issue at hand as you suggested. I use a blind menu for my main navigation because it is custom and hard-coded. I'm thinking this may have something to do with not reading/showing the Itemid.

Regarding minicart, changing the position to: rightmaincolumn does make "cart is empty" text appear under the right content, but it's not placed well. I'd like to have the icon, and would simply like to add it along the top, above the main categories. Is this possible?

Thank you.

Hi,

So that explains why. It must be your blind menu which doesn't add the itemid in the links of your menu. If you have the itemids in your links, that should also solve your SEF problems since SEF also needs the itemid in the URLs in order to convert them properly. You should try to configure your menu module differently or use another one...

As you can see on the link 184.168.85.59/index.php?option=com_hikas...d=23&name=books&tp=1 you don't have a zone above the category listing where you could put the cart module. You need to modify your template for that... We can't help you on this one and you should ask your template provider.
