Hello,

Could someone please help me, I've been trying for two days to get a catergory list to display in the left column of the beez5 template in joomla 1.6 but nothing seems to make any difference...I've followed the configuration tutorial step by step but nothing seems to make any difference. I'm editing on my local machine so I cant send you any links to my site. From a fresh joomla installation with no sample data installed.

I created three catergories in hikashop, each containing three products. I then created a catergories list item and a products list item in the Display>Content Menus tab, assigned every possible comination of associated modules and made sure there was a corresponding menu item under the joomla main menu.

All I need to do is have a catergory list in the left column which will function just like the one on the demo site. Instead I get one menu item in the left which displays all the catergories in a list in the main area. When I click on a catergory it displays the products as it should but the catergories list is no longer displayed...Why cant I get the catergories to just stay in the left menu???

Please help..

In the hikashop options of your category listing module, you need to make sure that the content synchronization option is turned off. Otherwise, your module will always try to display the sub categories of the currently selected category. Which means that if you don't have any categories in the current category, it won't display anything.

Thank you that helped. I now have my category menu in the left only now the products I have in each category aren't showing up. Initially, after turning off content sync in the front end it was displaying menu in the left where I want it, but also displaying two duplicates of the menu separated by a line break in the content area.. In the joomla menu manager a new menu called HikaShop Hidden Menus appeared. I unpublished the menu I had created which took care of the duplicates in the main content area only now as I mentioned, the categories are not linking to the products under them...

Is this a common issue?

The products display is handled by an associated module which is created automatically when you create a category listing menu.
If you don't see your proudcts, maybe that's because you deleted that products listing associated module ?
You can always create a new module in Display->Content modules, set it to display products and be synchronized and then, in the Display->Content menus, open your menu's options and add that module as an associated module in corresponding option.

Thank you for your help. I have it working now however, I'm not sure what I did exactly. It took 7 fresh installations and some frustration but its working as it should for now.

Thanks again.
