Several noob questions

First, wanted to say I am trying out the starter edition of Hikashop and I really like it so far. I am getting it setup for the first time and was wondering if someone could give me direct answers or at least point me in the right direction for some noob questions of mine. I didn't want to create a separate thread for each, so sorry if this is not proper etiquette by putting them all in one thread.

On to my questions:

1) How do you change what the default state and country is that shows up when a user registers?

2) Also, I wondered if it is ok to remove the "HikaShop , Joomla!™ Online Store Component" text that appears with component? I am using the free edition, so if I am asked to leave it there unless I upgrade, I understand. If it is ok to remove, where would this be done from?

3) I also had a question about how taxes work. My client is going to be placing orders for people of different cities in the U.S. and the taxes would be based off of the shipping address. How can I set Hikashop up automatically so that it gets a tax percentage based on the city in the shipping address? Would I have to manually enter all the cities and tax rates?

4) As for shipping, the rate is flat and will always be the same, but I do need the user to enter a shipping address. How can I accomplish this?

All help is much appreciated. Cheers.

1. You can go in the menu Display->Custom fields and edit the fields address_state and address_country
2. You can go in the config under the tab display and turn off the "show footer" option
3. You can look at that thread: www.hikashop.com/en/support/forum/4-how-...ipping-location.html
4. You need to create a new shipping method with a flat fee in the menu System->shipping methods. Make sure that you put a weight in your products.

Hi, I have a couple more questions if you would be so kind :)

1) Checkout flow - I'm using the default flow, and I'm including the links at the top of the checkout. Where do those strings come from? For instance, if I have address_payment_shipping in my flow, it is labeled "address" at the top. Can I change this?
2) I have a menu item that links to a listing of products in a category. I see the option to include the category description, but I don't see an option for a title. Can I include a title (so it has the format of all my articles)?

Many thanks!

1. All the text in hikashop can be changed in the config under the tab languages via the interface provided.

2. The title of the menu should be changeable in the joomla options of the menu.

Regarding #2, I meant an article title. The title of my menu is showing, but when I click a menu item, it loads the list of products in a category where the articles go. I was wondering if there was a way to give that 'article' a title.

In your menu's hikashop options, you should be able to turn off the option "Use menu name instead of category name for the title" for that.

Regarding #1, I have two questions.

a) Is this feature still available? I can't find the Display > Custom Fields in my installed version of Hikashop. I have version 1.5.1
b) How can I restrict shipment to ONLY U.S. and its affiliate states?

a/ Yes: www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...p-field-listing.html

b/ You can go in System->Zones and unpublish the countries you don't want. Also, you need to change the custom fields address_country and address_state default value and save the custom fields.

Thank you VERY much. That did the trick.

I noticed I still see Montenegro and serbia in the list of countries, but I can't find these under the Zones. How can I disable these as well?

If they are displayed, it means that you still have them in the Zones listing. It's the only data HikaShop uses to build the state and country dropdowns.

Hi,

1. Any text in HikaShop can be changed as explained there: www.hikashop.com/en/download/languages.html#modify
2. Yes. If you log in your back end with the english language, HikaShop will also use the english language file.
You can configure the default language of your backend in the language manager of joomla.
3. You can create a new custom field via the menu Display->Custom fields to create a new dropdown with all the cities. You won't be able to display different city dropdowns based on the region selected. For that, you would have to create for that one custom field per region and set the "Display only for" option of the custom fields to only appear for the corresponding region. If you want to add that selection to the address display at you will have to edit the files address_template via the menu Display>Views to add all your new custom fields there.
