In my shop (which is selected by choosing "online shop" in the main part of my site I want the following layout:-

------------------------------------
CATEGORIES PRODUCTS

[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
[ ]

CART

[ ]

------------------------------------

Clicking on a category in the left panel triggers the display of the child products in the main part of the page where they are selected and added to the basket.

The problem that I have is that I cannot have the Categories and Cart showing throughout the website, only when the user is in the online shop. Therefore I
made the Category and Cart only display when the online shop menu is selected.

It works OK on entry into the shop (although I'd like to select the starting category), at the moment it displays all products for all categories.

However, when I click on a different category the Category and Cart modules no longer display. I assume this is because the menu is no longer active and it's gone into Component mode?

I'm sure I'm missing something fundamental but any ideas how I can achieve this?

Thanks

Richard

You need to go in Display->Content modules and edit your categories module. There, you need to set the "online shop" menu (id 58) in the "menu" option. Right now, you have the menu with the id 59 set there. An alternative would be to also activate the cart module and the category module on the page with the id 59 in their joomla settings.

Nicolas, Once again thank you!

Any idea if it is possible when entering the shop to have only the products displayed which belong to the fist category in the list on the left?

Thanks again.

That is possible. In your menu's hikashop options, you need to set the "parent category" option to that first category.

Great. Thanks!

Making progress, I was asked to add a Shop by Brand box and have created a module and tied it to the correct menu but it disappears just like my Category module did. It's definitely pointing at the right menu, so i'm a little stuck again!

The fact that it disappear is because you need to turn off the content synchronization option of the module.
