Hikashop states it is compatible with Joomla! 1.6 AND has multilingual support using Joomfish......... ah yes... and there's no Joomfish for 1.6 yet.
But why not have an extra table for this as Joomla1.6 holds some multilingual features it self.
It would be even better if one could use multilinguality straight out of the HIKA shop box.

Any chance?

Joomla 1.6 indeed has some multilingual features. However, using them in HikaShop would mean a lot of changes on our end as well as some things which wouldn't work great. For example, in Joomla 1.6, each entity has its own language. A menu is set for one language, an article is for one language. If we did the same in HikaShop, we would have different products (with different code and different quantities) for different languages. But in reality, you only have one product with one code and one quantity. So for some shops, it wouldn't cut it as they can't manage their stocks per language, whereas with the language system in Joomfish, you don't have such problems.
Why have a compatibility with Joomfish instead of having multi language integrated in HikaShop ? For several reasons:
- It means more work for us for almost no gain, so that's also less time to do other features people want
- It also means more code in HikaShop to do the same stuff as joomfish. Why reinvent the wheel ?
- Which also means that the HikaShop install package is bigger, and thus heavier to install if we would integrate it.

JoomFish for 1.6 is already on its way so multi lingual capability should also arrive soon for Joomla 1.6
